Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Leaves of Chromolaena odorata and its Antioxidant Activity

Harmful chemical waste is a serious problem being faced during the synthesis of nanoparticles due to usage hazardous chemicals. Synthesis silver using aqueous extract leaves C. odorata cheap and environmentally friendly. This study reports (AgNPs) as reducing agent. The was extracted by cold maceration technique. phytochemicals screening done positive results showed for presence flavonoids, tannins, saponins, phenolics in odorata. synthesized mediated AgNPs characterized several techniques including UV-Visible spectroscopy Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM). reduction pure Ag (I) ions (0) monitored UV-Vis every one hour after 24 hours up 28 it an absorption band at 430-450 nm. emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) utilized determine its particle size average obtained 27.3 produced determined antioxidant activity DPPH free radical scavenging assay. IC50 value 277.29 mg/ml. Based on obtained, indicates that possessed can scavenge radicals.
